See below for some of the questions we are frequently asked about the HotPod – and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any other queries!
Do I need Planning and/or Building Regulation approval?
This depends on the location that you intend to put your Hot Pod, and the use you put it to. In many cases a HotPod can be erected without Planning approval, but each case is unique. We are happy to provide advice on this matter, and make applications on your behalf if necessary. The fact that you may wish to take your HotPod down after you no longer have a use for it, means that we can apply on your behalf for planning approval on a temporary basis.
How Eco-friendly can I make my HotPod?
HotPods can be installed so that they are very, very Eco friendly. The HotPod’s unique design makes it ideal for environmentally friendly living. Some of the features that can designed into your HotPod include:-
Solar energy panels can be incorporated in the eight sided roof.
Wind energy generation can be incorporated within the structure or independently in the vicinity.
High specification insulation values are a feature of the wall, roof & floor panels.
Windows & doors are all energy efficient
Composting toilets are easily incorporated if desired.
Even straw bale insulation can be incorporated into the design
Is it difficult to build a HotPod?
HotPods can be erected quickly and easily, and just as importantly, they are equally easy to demount when their use comes to an end. The ‘Pod’ structure is incredibly strong, and the units can be erected in very difficult situations, usually in a matter of days.
HotPods do not need to be positioned where a lorry drops them off – they can be erected in places where access is difficult. We have our own design team, and if your situation calls for a planning application we also have qualified Architects to advise you on planning matters if required. We also have our own construction team to put up your HotPod.
